Secret Church 11

This fall's session of Secret Church focused on "Family, Marriage, Sex, and the Gospel." This discipleship event was held on the evening of Friday, November 4 at the Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, AL and broadcast live via internet to more than 35,000 people at host sites literally around the world.

Secret Church is a ministry of Dr. David Platt, pastor at Brook Hills and author of the Christian best-seller Radical. This was the second time that Park Hill has hosted the simulcast. The experience is designed to give participants an idea of what it is like for believers in persecuted countries to come together in secret to have an intensive time of focused Bible study.

This session of Secret Church highlighted the nation of Egypt, with its government structure very much in disarray following the ousting of long-time president Hosni Mubarek. Participants watched several brief testimonies of the trials and even torture that Christians often have to endure in Egypt -- particularly women and children. Secret Church participants spent some time in focused prayer for the persecuted Church in Egypt and asked God to open up this nation to the Gospel.

Our next session of Secret Church is scheduled for Good Friday, April 6, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until midnight. The topic will be "The Cross and Suffering." Tickets will go on sale the first week of March. For information about how you and your church can be involved in this event, please contact Garrick Conner at 501-753-3413, Ext. 757.
