Trunk-or-Treat 2011

Our second annual Trunk-or-Treat event was held on Monday, October 31 in partnership with the Park Hill Merchants Association. Families from all over the community participated in this year's Trunk-or-Treat.

North Little Rock police and event organizers estimate that the event was attended by 1700-2000 people.

Garrick Conner, Discipleship Pastor, says that the event constitutes a real outreach opportunity that builds on the foundation of a long-standing tradition of Park Hill area businesses. "This is a chance for our church to join with our community, providing a safe alternative to trick-or-treating. It also allows us the opportunity to meet many people who wouldn't normally intersect with our regular services and activities."

Susan Bumpas, Children's Minister, said that many parents expressed gratitude for the church providing a fun, safe environment for their children. She explained, "The parents love the safety factor and the fun their kids have getting candy and playing games as they go through the parking lot."

Conner said that Park Hill church members passed out candy, popcorn, and bottled water as children made their way around to the various car trunks and truck beds in the parking lot. He sees the glow-in-the-dark evangelistic tract as the most important treat the children receive.

"Our deepest prayer is that a number of these kids will come to an understanding of who Jesus is and that He loves them," Conner stated. "We know that many seeds were planted through the efforts of our church members."

For the past several years Park Hill Baptist Church has been focusing more heavily on fun-filled community activities that families can enjoy together. Conner said, "What we learn inside the church buildings about God's love makes no difference if we fail to share His love with those right here in our neigbhorhood."

The church provides a number of outreach and ministry activities throughout the year, including neighborhood Easter egg hunts, Vacation Bible School, and children's music camp.

The Park Hill staff expresses thanks to all those who made Trunk-or-Treat possible by donating candy, serving treats, playing games, and praying for the families involved.
